OUR FOUNDER, PANG MING

Zhineng Qigong was founded by Pang Ming (Pang He Ming) in the 1980s when he effectively combined the life nourishing movements of various types of qigong, martial arts and incorporated knowledge from Chinese Traditional medicine and Western medicine, thus establishing a scientific basis for the practice of qigong that was named Zhineng Qigong.

Pang Ming was born in 1940. He started his qigong practice in early childhood and has studied under 19 Grandmasters in both qigong and martial arts. He was also trained in both traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine.

The chronology of the development of Zhineng Qigong by Pang Ming is as follows:

In July 1979, Pang Ming was one of the initiators and organizers of the First National Convention on Qigong.

At the end of 1979, he founded the Beijing Qigong Association where he gave academic lectures on qigong.

Pang Ming systematically sorted out and summarized the theories and practice methods of traditional qigong. In 1980, he compiled and formulated the theories and practice methods of a new qigong practice that was later to become Zhineng Qigong and gave instructions in them in June 1980 as the chief leading lecturer in the First National Qigong Teacher's Training Class held by the China Federation of Trade Unions.

Pang Ming was the first to teach the External-Qi Technique in the spring of 1981. He created the Chi-Field Technique, teaching and applying this pioneering method in 1984, and publicizing its theories and methods in 1986. He was one of the chief lecturers of the First National Study and Training Class on Qigong Theories at the end of 1984.

In the 1980s, Pang Ming was one of the founders of China Qigong Science Correspondence Institute, chief lecturer for the first class of college-level chigong students at the Haidian Day University, one of the founders of China Qigong Association, and the founder of the Theory of Unity of Consciousness and the Hunyuan Entirety Theory (Published in 1990 in nine volumes. An English translation was published in October 1999).

In 1997, he participated in the design of the National Teaching Program of Qigong Science. In 1998, he participated in the examining and approving of work authorized by China Association of Qigong Science on fitness qigong.
